The Far West Area Health Service Board appointments have been announced.
Re-elected to the Board are:
Peter Crisp - Dareton, Margaret Gleeson - Walgett, Keith Hocking - Broken Hill, Christina Johansson - Lightning Ridge, Raymond Longfellow - Ivanhoe, Ary Vanzanten - Balranald.
Staff representative Loi Zanette - Broken Hill was re-elected following a staff ballot.
The Board also comprises Directors Gloria King - Wilcannia, Yvonne Howarth - Bourke, Chief Executive Officer, Heather Gray and Chairman Bill O’Neil.
Mr O’Neil welcomed the Board members, who were appointed by the Minister for Health, Craig Knowles, for a further four year term and said all residents in the Area were well represented.
“The Far West Area Health Service is the largest Area Health Service in the State and covers approximately one-third of the land mass of NSW, and we have seven councils within the Area.
“Nearly all the councils have representatives on the Board - Broken Hill, Balranald, Bourke Central Darling, Wentworth and Walgett.
“I feel it is most important to have representation across the region and the Board will also continue its policy of conducting every second meeting in a town outside of Broken Hill.
“Our Board members bring a range of skills, expertise and experiences to the Health Service Board.
“This includes:
*the fruits of a wider general experience than may be available within the Health Service.
*A range of specials skills, knowledge and experience gained from employment and activities outside the WAHS.
*An independent view by which managerial performance can be monitored against the general strategy of the Board,” Mr O’Neil said.
