Nova Youth Orchestra delights Ridge audience

Since its inception some eleven years ago, the Nova Youth Orchestra has provided wonderful opportunities for hundreds of young children to realise their musical ambitions, to experience the joy of playing in a world-class youth orchestra and to share the pleasure of helping others by performing for the community.

Their concerts are a celebration of the ongoing success and achievements of the Orchestra. In this year, the Year of the Outback, they are supporting the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia, a most worthy beneficiary.

The Nova Youth Orchestra is one of the few community-based youth string orchestras in Australia and has an enviable record of successful performances both in Australia and overseas. The orchestra has played in numerous concerts for community groups and charity organisations and has had the honour of playing before Prime Ministers, in the great hall at Parliament House and recently at the Open Day of the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia.

Over the years, the Orchestra has helped to raise over a million dollars through its performances for a range of charities both in Australia and overseas.

This has been made possible by the assistance and support of many people, including successive hard working committees, a tireless administrator and talented and dedicated musical directors.

The Nova Youth Orchestra delighted its Lightning Ridge audience with its performance last Thursday. Supported by the local Soroptimist group, the orchestra raised additional dollars for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
