Easter was very exciting, with thousands of visitors having been attracted to Lightning Ridge to be part of the extremely successful Easter festivities.
Judging by the comments received, it was a wonderful return to the “busy times” of old. But, what next ...?
The Great Goat Race Committee organised the Easter Saturday festivities, including the Great Goat Races, the Battle of the Buskers, and Easter Saturday evening’s free family night with the two local bands, and the incredible pyrotechnics fireworks display.
But now we need new ideas and input from the locals to make next year even bigger and better.
The purpose of the Great Goat Races themselves is basically designed to gain publicity for the area and to attract tourists to the town and Shire.
The Easter Saturday evening festivities, though, were organised by us free of entry fees, as a “thank you” to all the members of the local community, and the business houses, for your kind support.
We now need support of a different kind. We need new ideas from you as to what we can create to make next Easter even more interesting and entertaining to both tourists and locals.
Please tell us what ideas you have been saving up, waiting for the right time and the right people to help make them reality. Or what you feel we can do to make Easter even bigger and better.
Please contact any of the members of the Great Goat Race committee, or come to our next meeting on Wednesday, April 24, Bowling Club upstairs, 7.30pm, or phone Herman at the Opal Cave, 6829 0333 for further information.
We are starting work on next year’s activities now, so please don’t delay contacting us.
