13th February 2002 Clear direction for OJDAA

For the Committee of the Opal Jewellery Design Awards and Exhibition the decision to make it a bi annual event was a most difficult one.

Now, a clear direction has been set and the recently elected Executive Committee are planning activities for the period July 25- 28.

This will include an Exhibition of Opal, opal jewellery and Gala Dinner.

A fund-raising effort will be launched throughout 2002 to ensure the 2003 event is the most prestigious opal only competition in the world.

Like most events of this magnitude difficulties arise, however, the committee is confident that these can be overcome and are intent only in success and the promotion of Australia's National gemstone.

There have been some exciting developments that are yet to be confirmed.

These developments, if realised, will be a stepping stone to greater awareness of our unique gemstone with increased returns for opal miners, their families and the community generally a natural flow on.
