The club now has a total of 9 ranges consisting of, 35 x 25m shooting bays with turning targets , 20 x 25m precision bays, a 20 bay 50m free pistol ,full length 50 yards service pistol range able to allow 3 shooters to compete at a time

Open air ranges are used for I.P.S.C.(practical pistol) a 10m 10 bay air pistol range, most of the ranges have covered shooting positions

The Pistol club was formed in 1976 by 20 keen locals. The membership in 1998 was 110.The club house was "Ridge' style pole and corrugated iron and the one range had manually turning target frames timed with a stopwatch. In 1990 the existing brick and steel clubhouse was commenced and completed in 1991 by a lot of hard work through the summer.

The Queen Birthday long weekend in June 1978 saw the staging of the first "OPAL OPEN" U.I.T shoot.

The OPAL OPEN has been well attended with some years seeing 160 plus shooters vieing for the chance to visit the prize table usually consisting of many Opal products.

Over the years the Club has seen World class shooters attempt the perfect score on the ranges. Patti Dench a Medallist in the 1984 L.A.Olympics set a State and range record ladies sport pistol of 585 out of a possible 600.

The matches regularly shot are ,air,sports,standard ,rapid fire, free pistol, centre fire, black powder,service,action and I.P.S.C.
